Etha Robinson
At Mrs. Robinson’s Tea Cakes, we are more than just a bakery—we are a living testament to history, legacy, and cultural pride. Our mission is to preserve the rich tradition of the tea cake, the official cookie of Juneteenth, and to support the continued celebration and education of African American history.
Our journey is inspired by the groundbreaking work of the late Dr. Ronald V. Myers, a civil rights leader and medical doctor who dedicated his life to the recognition of Juneteenth as a state holiday across America. Dr. Myers traveled tirelessly to 47 states, lobbying state governments to honor this historic day, marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865. His relentless advocacy led to the widespread acknowledgment of Juneteenth, paving the way for it to become a national symbol of freedom and resilience.
Understanding the significance of culinary heritage, Dr. Myers appointed Etha Robinson as a Juneteenth Commissioner, entrusting her with a mission to bring the legacy of the tea cake to the forefront of Juneteenth celebrations. With this appointment, the tea cake was declared the official cookie of Juneteenth, symbolizing unity, remembrance, and the sweet taste of freedom.
At Mrs. Robinson’s Tea Cakes, we proudly uphold Dr. Myers’ legacy by sharing this historic dessert with communities across the nation. Each tea cake is crafted with love and tradition, celebrating the spirit of freedom and the importance of remembrance. Through pre-orders, bulk sales, and community fundraisers, we are spreading the story of Juneteenth one bite at a time, while also raising funds for the Miss Juneteenth Pageant and Scholarship Fund.
